FITINDEX Smart Scale
It’s kind of crazy what body scales are capable of these days. I remember when I was a kid and we upgraded from a scale that spun a dial until it landed on your weight to one with a digital display that took a few seconds to give you a readout (if it didn’t error out on you) — and what a big deal that was. Now you have scales that will connect with your phone wirelessly and track any number of biometric data.
The FITINDEX smart scale is a prime example. This affordable gadget goes way beyond tracking basic changes in your weight. Through its four electrode sensors that you stand on with bare feet, the scale uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to calculate your body composition — i.e. your body fat relative to your mass — plus a bunch of other estimates concerning your muscle and bone mass, hydration levels, basal metabolic rate, subcutaneous and visceral fat, and more.
All of this data syncs with the free FITINDEX app, which can track the metrics of an unlimited number of users. The scale itself can measure people up to 396 lbs (180kg) in 0.2-pound increments, which is good enough for most cases I’d say.
You can get the FITINDEX scale in either white ($26) or black ($28).
